River of Hope’s Mission

Rivers of Hope is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization that was founded in 1989 by a group of Elk River citizens concerned with the problems of domestic violence in their community. In 1991 the founders added a youth program and by the mid-1990’s Rivers of Hope had expanded and was serving all of Sherburne and Wright Counties. Today office space is centrally located in Monticello and Rivers of Hope maintains a strong, anti-violence presence in our community.

The mission of Rivers of Hope is to provide a community coordinated response to end family violence through advocacy, education, and interagency collaboration.

We live out our mission by striving to achieve the following goals:

  • To provide support, advocacy, education and crisis services to an increasing population of adult victims.

  • To develop, maintain and expand cooperative relationships with other community entities.

  • To foster victim accessibility to all services within the community.

  • To provide support, advocacy, and preventative services to youth in local schools.

The core values of Rivers of Hope are as follows:

  • Every person has the right to freedom and safety within their home. We are committed to the safety and confidentiality of our clients.

  • We advocate on behalf of victim/survivors of domestic violence to assure that their legal and civil rights are upheld.

  • Education and collaborative networking are critical to a comprehensive community response to end family violence.

  • Our work is done ethically and with integrity and respect

  • Rivers of Hope promotes respect, cooperation, and understanding that there are many ways to achieve a common goal. Our agency embraces the talents, gifts, and individuality of each client, volunteer, and staff member.
